The new stationary 1D/2D code readers from the Siemens Industry Automation Division are characterized by their high reading reliability and speed as well as by diverse communication and connection possibilities. A primary use of the compact Simatic MV440 code-reading systems, which feature high protection rating IP67, is for reading data matrix codes such as direct part marks (DPMs) on objects under difficult ambient conditions in an industrial environment. Thanks to its flexible lighting options, the system can be adapted to the respective application. Typical uses are product tracing, process control and checking the quality of marking in a variety of applications in the automotive, packaging, pharmaceutical, tobacco, cosmetics, electronics and food&beverages industries.

Siemens’s Industry Automation Division has developed two new 3-phase, 24 volt power supplies: the Sitop PSU300P and the Simatic ET200pro PS. These primary switched-mode 8 amp power supplies have the high IP65 degree of protection, and have been designed for distributed use directly in electrical installations. Sitop PSU300P is suitable for universal applications, whereas the Simatic ET200pro PS has been specifically designed for the Simatic ET200pro distributed I/O system, and supplies the electronic and load voltages to its system components. This power supply also has a special connector for looping through a 3-phase 380–480 AC voltage. Both new power supplies are suitable for use in ambient temperatures ranging between minus 25 and plus 55 degrees …
Magnetom Espree-Pink makes examinations more comfortable for physicians and patients
Siemens Healthcare recently presented its first MRI breast scanner, Magnetom Espree-Pink. This 1.5-Tesla system is the latest innovation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from Siemens, featuring a dedicated solution for breast examinations. Particularly for obese and claustrophobic patients, the large, 70-centimeter magnet bore makes examinations more comfortable than with previous systems, or, in some cases, it makes them possible for the first time ever. The flexible design of the “Sentinelle Vanguard for Siemens” breast coil also optimizes the clinical workflow. Comprehensive applications, such as syngo Grace or syngo Views, additionally set a new standard in Women’s Health.
At almost 30 percent, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer occurring among women in Germany, as well as throughout Europe. Approximately 57,000 women annually develop breast cancer in Germany; 17,500 women per year die from breast cancer1. The American National Cancer Institute estimates that a woman has a 1-in-8 chance of developing breast cancer during her lifetime. The American Cancer Society’s new screening guidelines will impact up to 1.4 million high-risk women by recommending they receive annual MRI screenings. 2A high percentage of these women will benefit from breast MRI. A new, compact, medium-resolution, belt speed sensor from the Siemens Industry Automation Division is suitable for any industrial application with belt-driven conveyor pulleys, for example in the primary industry. The lightweight, yet durable Sitrans WS100 is suitable in applications from -40 to +110 degrees Celsius (-40 to 164 degrees Fahrenheit). Typical applications include the mineral processing industry, in particular quarries or cement plants, with belt speeds up to 2 meters per second (392 feet per minute). The new sensor monitors the belt speed for input to an integrator, which calculates flow rate, total weight, belt load, and speed of bulk materials. Sitrans WS100 can be combined with a Milltronics BW100 or BW500 integrator or Siwarex …
